9 Squared was created by three 20–something entrepreneurs,
a start-up company selling and brokering ringtones in the crowded
wireless entertainment space. While relatively unknown in the
media, 9 Squared had quietly developed a strong technology offering
for powering ring tone sales for mobile carriers, key partnerships
with numerous record labels and a popular consumer e–commerce
site of their own, Ringtone Jukebox. 9 Squared enlisted Atomic
to help raise awareness about the company and it's offerings
with wireless and entertainment trade professionals and consumers
alike, and to assist in creating greater perceived value for
the company, which was entering into acquisition discussions
with larger entities. Results
- The first barrage of the campaign generated strong insider
buzz, as well as significant national and international
press coverage on key trends in the ring tone market, and
commentary on the news of other, larger companies.
- Ninety days into the campaign, 9 Squared was acquired
by MonsterMob for an estimated $30 million, approximately
3 times higher than rumored offers preceding the assignment.
